Did You Know? A Record Year for Our Play Groups!
As we reflect on the 2023/2024 year, we’re thrilled to share an exciting milestone with our community. Over the past 12 months, our play groups have welcomed approximately 2,524 children, providing a safe and engaging environment for young minds to explore, learn, and grow.
But the impact didn’t stop with the children. On average, each child was accompanied by 1.3 parents or guardians, bringing our total number of attendees to a remarkable 3,281 people! This means that in just one year, we supported thousands of individuals—both young and old—through our programs.
This achievement is a testament to the importance of community and the role our play groups play in fostering connections among families. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about the relationships we build, the support we offer, and the joy we bring to both children and parents alike.
As we look forward to the year ahead, we’re more committed than ever to expanding our reach and continuing to provide a nurturing space for families. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Dream it
It all begins with an idea.
In 2018 a few friends had the idea to create a community space which was accessible for everyone, regardless of background or ability. The aim was to create an opportunity for social interaction for residents within the Springfields and Trent Vale area who didn’t want to join toddler or sport groups.
Build it
At the start we offered regular meetings just for a brew and a chat, various activities for all ages and a community meal once a week. However, we quickly noticed that people from all areas of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme - and even from as far as Stone - enjoyed attending. This was the indication that we were doing the right thing and we started growing to a point where we decided to register for charity status.
In 2021 we became a fully registered charity and have kept growing ever since.
Grow it
Over the last five years we have met and supported many wonderful people. The difference we make by lifting people's spirits in difficult times, creating community spirit and a sense of belonging, and helping people who do not normally access services because we make them feel comfortable is much needed. We actively encourage everyone that it is ok to ask for help and to reach out if needed.
We want to ensure that everyone feels like a confident, valued member of society.
