Community in the Middle, our long-term project

Hug in a Mug Community Cafe

Our Hug in a Mug Community Café is a welcoming safe space for everyone

During the lockdowns people were very isolated, which impacted both physical and mental health.

This was the origin of our free café at St Teresa’s Church, bringing the community together.

Our aim is to combine the promotion of physical and mental wellbeing and encourage community spirit. We are actively tackling loneliness and promote social inclusion by the integration of generations over a brew and a chat.

In November 2024 we opened our second community café in Chell Heath Family Hub, offering hot food and drinks 3 days a week.

Join us from 1pm to 2:30pm every Wednesday at St Teresa of the Child Jesus (Stone Road, Trent Vale, ST4 6SP) for a free community meal which is cooked using items donated by local supermarkets to combat food waste.

The café in Chell Heath Family Hub, Bishop Rd, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 6QW, offers food and drinks for reasonable prices and great company for our community members.

We actively encourage community cohesion, tackling loneliness, social isolation and interaction, food poverty and promoting the important value of families and community coming together.
